This is a possible echo chamber

The typing serves no purpose but to consume my life.  I will read it and l will not think anything particular about it, indeed, I won't even care.  I do not want to write anymore...

"Sanity is the lot of those who are most obtuse, for lucidity destroys one's equilibrium: it is unhealthy to honestly endure the labors of the mind which incessantly contradict what they have just established..."
Bataille

"As often as not , it seems to be assumed that man has his being independently of his passions. I affirm, on the other hand, that we must never imagine existence except in terms of these passions..."
Bataille. The Trial of Gilles de Rais. 1965.

"A young man leaps down into the operating theatre and, whipping out a scalpel, advances on the patient.
DR. BENWAY: “An espontaneo! Stop him before he guts my patient!”
(Espontaneo is a bull-fighting term for a member of the audience who leaps down into the ring, pulls out a concealed cape and attempts a few passes with the bull before he is dragged out of the ring.)"
Burroughs
This is the basic image of the world and the method of criticism to be developed...

Our position is pretty clear- we experience History and the fate of the world from a penultimate place, constantly we see the end coming just around the corner, but we ourselves do not exist on the corner, at the brink.  We see the end coming but situate ourselves safely one step removed, constantly shifting the onus of war and destruction on the next, the next generation, the next age, the next guy.  In this way we can simultaneously recognize what blares in our face, the environmental, economic, social, etc. destruction, and thus honor our intellect, but also hysterically assert that we are not responsible for the solutions to the destructions, we are not going to experience it, we will not face it, and thus honor our gut, our unconscious, which demands at all times that we develop the lies and strategies to continue a joyous life even in the face of our own impending deaths.

i count as good yankee common sense
the urge to totally destroy the order of things
what lies at the bottom of you
if not laughter and violence?

where are all the old Americans gone
that Yes is our national slogan now?

"Without a profound complicity with natural forces such as violent death, gushing blood, sudden catastrophes and the horrible cries of pain that accompany them, terrifying ruptures of what had seemed to be immutable, the fall into stinking filth of what had been elevated — without a sadistic understanding of an incontestably thundering and torrential nature, there could be no revolutionaries, there could only be a revolting utopian sentimentality."
Bataille
( Underneath our topical outcries there must be lurking something deeper and more urgent than the topic at hand.  That blood and terror lurk there with it is no surprise, indeed, what do you expect to find at the bottom of your breast?)

"It is time to choose between the conduct of cowards afraid of their own joyful excesses, and the conduct of those who judge that any given man need not cower like a hunted animal, but instead can see all the moralistic buffoons as so many dogs."
